  • "Entitled lady demanded my birthday cake because her son deserved it more."

So this happened last year on my 21st birthday. I was celebrating with a small group of friends at a chill restaurant that allows you to bring your own cake. My best friend
  • surprised me with this GORGEOUS custom cake my favorite colors, little fondant decorations, the whole thing was super cute. It even had my nickname on it. Enter Entitled Mom (EM).

  • She was sitting with her kid a few tables over. We noticed her staring as the waiter brought out the cake and my friends started singing. I didn't think much of it until she
  • literally got up and walked over to our table. At first I thought maybe she was going to say happy birthday or something. Nope.
  • EM: "Hi, excuse me. My son just LOVES cake. It's his birthday too, and we didn't bring one. Can we have a slice?" I was kind of shocked, but I smiled and said, "Oh
  • wow, happy birthday to him too! But sorry, this cake was custom-made by my friend. It's just enough for our group." She did not take that well.
  • EM: "Seriously? You can't spare ONE slice? He's just a kid. You're an adult. Don't you think it would mean more to him?" Mind you, this "kid" looked like he was around 12 and was busy playing
  • with his iPad, not even looking at us. Meanwhile, EM is now giving me the death glare like I stole her groceries. I tried to keep it light: "I get it, but this was a personal gift. I'm sure the
  • restaurant has dessert you can order?" She huffed, rolled her eyes, and stormed back to her table only to return two minutes later with a waitress.
  • She told the waitress that we were "refusing to share a public birthday cake" and "being r de to her child." Luckily, the waitress had been nearby when my friend explained the cake situation and immediately shut it down
  • "This was brought in by the guests. It's not for the public." EM finally gave up, but not before muttering, "Some people are just selfish."
  • Lady... I'm selfish for not giving a stranger's kid a piece of MY birthday cake, custom made with MY NAME on it?? Anyway, the best part?
  • When we cut the cake, my friend handed me the slice with "Happy" written on it... and gave EM the most passive-aggressive smile as she passed by. The entire table cracked up.
  • Still wondering what kind of person thinks it's normal to demand someone else's birthday cake like it's a community pie at a potluck.
  • 9lobaldude Today I learned that some Karens see cake as public property
  • dragon_nataku "He's just a kid. You're am adult." Sure. You know who else is an adult? You, EM, and it's your kid.
  • "We didn't bring a cake" Now, whose fault is that? The random adult the next table over, or the adult who's child it is? ¦ |
  • Valuable-Job-7956 I'm not one to waste cake but it would have been awesome to cut the cake to so there was one small piece left let em see it and throw it in the trash
  • Terrible Squirrel435 what on earth is a public cake? I would have told her there is a public cake in the mens room urinal
  • Craftnerd24 "it has alcol in it..." Lol, I do this whenever a child asks for something.
  • thisappsucks9 Stop being polite to these people and just say "I said no, off." after they double down and keep it up
  • SandSpecialist2523 Her son was hiding his face in shame pretending to play with his tablet...
  • Some people are misadjusted, that's for sure. I think a good way to turn them around would be if at the end, after the lady had spent her time huffing and puffing, OP would have given a slice directly to the son and wished him a happy BD.
